When filing chapter 7 bankruptcy do I list now due property taxes as secured debt or unsecured priority?

This is an individual filing. I have had debt counseling and told that I need Chapter 7 because negotiating won’t help.

I urge you to consult with a bankruptcy attorney on this matter. Your question is a basic one, and if you are struggling with the basics of bankruptcy then your chances of guessing correctly on the tougher questions decreases even more.

If you really, really, really think you can file a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 on your own successfully, then I suggest you consider the Nolo Press books "The New Bankruptcy: Will It Work for You?" and "How to File for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy" and "Chapter 13 Bankruptcy: Keep Your Property & Repay Debts Over Time." Also, take some time to read the information in the link I provide below.

I wish you the best of luck. I hope that the information I have provided helps you Find. Learn. Save.

    Best,

Hopefully you gave all of your financial information to your bankruptcy lawyer. If you haven’t, my first step would be contact a bankruptcy lawyer. The failure rate for do it yourself bankruptcies are somewhere around 90%.

I believe that you would enter that under secured debt. That is one debt that will not be discharged in BK.

    They go on D.
But I concur, if you didn’t know that you really need an attorney.
