I am ,000 in debt from 3 different high interest credit cards coupled with being dumb and naive when I got them in my teens. I am 29 now, a single mom living in California, in the poverty income level without any assets. I don’t use the cards anymore but I still pay the min. balance on time–I just want the debt gone and wouldn’t be too proud about filing bankruptcy. I heard I should I get the debt consolidated but how the heck do I go about doing that? I’m not too clear about how that works and there are so many gimmicks and 1-800 #s advertised that I don’t know where to go. I live in California– specifically in San Bernadino County if that helps.

My ex-husband went to Auto Finance School while we were married. He was trying to better his opportunities to make more income (didn’t work).He had horrible credit so when he applied for a student loan, he was required to get a co-signer…me!
So since the divorce I filed bankruptcy and included this loan because it turns out it was a private loan that was issued by Sallie Mae. From what I have heard MOST student loans are not dischargable unless you can confirm that the loan was for a non accredited school…I am willing to fight this but I need to know what I am up against. I do not believe this school was accredited. For those who are going to say I shouldnt have co-signed, please save your time…I know the how a contract is enforced. I am a single mom that should not have to carry the burden of his failed responsibly. I handled the financial diaster from my divorce by filing bankruptcy and getting my debt discharged. I am asking if I am correct in fighting the loan based on the accreditation. I am looking for someone who knows bankruptcy law to answer on this subject. Thanks!
I am 90% sure this school is not accredited but I’m not going to take Sallie Mae’s word for it….how to I confirm a school’s accreditation?

Really wanna file myself it’d save about 0, already went thru the debt counseling and they said I was a lost cause to pay it back due to being a single mom with 3 kids. so obviously if i cant afford my bills i cant afford to hire an attorney in time to save myself from further garnishments. But is filing it myself a good thing?? Most of the debt is from my divorce and since we didnt file while we was married they will fall back on him and not by choice. But maybe they can get their money from him since he does make over twice what I do. I hate to pin it on him but I need to cleanup my act and look ahead for the sake of my kids…anyone with a suggestion please. Need to file Tues!!!!

Single mom was ill due to car accident and then stroke. Health got better and she went back to work after 4 years. Had to file bankruptcy and it was dismissed.Have 4 kids. One just finished first year of college. Next one heading to college.Next one heading to high school.One in middle school.I need a personal loan to pay our part of her college fee’s and help the others school fee’s, braces,glasses,computer’s ect.

I am being sued for 16000 by an insurance company and my layer says the best thing to do it to file bankruptcy. What will happen to my truck that I bought last year and still owe money on?
I am currently a single mom, going to school full time with one major and two minors. I work at school(workstudy) and have a very very part time weekend job that only pays 7 bucks an hour. I don’t have family to ask for help and don’t qualify for any legal aid. I also don’t think I am resposnible for the medical bills I am being sued for because when I was in the accident, I was bringing my company’s daily deposit to the bank and was still on the clock. My employer refused to pay so now they are coming after me.

I am 25 yrs old, have 2 children, single mom, i have 000-000 in unsecured cc debt and medical bills, i am going back to school ft and work ft and obviously a single mom…so its hard! it seems that every time i get back up and am able to pay a little on my bills i go back down. anyone else in this situation or know someone who has. the only thing that seems to be less stressful is bankruptcy. i don’t make much about 000/yr (that is why i am back in school!) i feel guilty about bankruptcy but when i moved from NY to SC i didn’t think it would be that hard to find a job and it was so that is how i fell into debt, about 2 yrs after i moved. i can’t affor a credit couseling organization,,,so what do you think? i was thinking of filing next year. i live pay to pay, i dont spend on anything that i do not need.

i am having to file because of i repossed mobile home that my ex let go back. I have live paycheck to paycheck but have been able to set back about 00 in savings for protection. Will they take that money?
I am certainly not trying to steal this money or hide it. I am a single mom and have saved this money through income tax returns and general savings. I have every intention of reporting this but need to know if they will take all of this from me and then me be back to {content} savings.

I need to file for bankruptcy and I need a lawyer that is cheap and will let me do payments because I am a single mom. I have to file and because I can’t afford to pay all the bills and it cost a lot to file. Is there a way to file and be able to make payment on it? If so . Where can I go to get this done?
