I mean its not like America can file bankruptcy. When the Military shuts down for a lack of a paycheck. Law enforcement stops for the same Reason. The money in your hand is no long accepted like the credit card in your wallet. What happens then to the sick the old the children.

In a week I will be done paying my att. fees and will be able to actually file for bankruptcy. I am not unemployeed, but have been out on sick leave. My last paycheck was collected on 8/11/06 and this was a check for cashing out my sick time and all of my current and future vacation time. My Dr. has sent in the proper documentation required by my employer to excuse my absence. I am currently excused through the end of this year, but I will need to go in to be reevaluated to see if I should return to work. I have applied for LTD since I am eligible, but I had to wait to until the ‘waiting period’ was over. It so happens that the paperwork for my LTD is now being processed at the same time when I will file for bankruptcy and I do not know if the LTD papers will be done in time or if my claim will be accepted. With me not working and this LTD claim status unknown, how will this affect my filing? Is it possible I may still have to file a Ch.13? My att. has not yet replied to this. ADVICE??
My LTD would be provided through my employer. If approved it would provide me with some income and allow me to keep my health insurance. If I am denied I will continue to go on with no insurance and I will not know how long it will be before (or if) I am able to return to work for the company of which I am currently employed. Hi, I’m in a bad situation. I’m uninsured, and I had a severe retinal detachment a week ago. I had to go to emergency room, and then treatment. The hospital is going to bill me with huge amound, probably around 30k they said. And doctors are not even sure if I’ll get my vision back, as I still can’t see after the treatment. I applied for country programs, but they are not covering them because I went into emergency room care before applying for those programs. I do not have a job, and my poor wife works to support me and makes only about 600 dollars a month after tax. I don’t know what to do. I’m a student who has no job, and my wife and I live in my parents house. Therefore, I’m interested in filing bankruptcy. I have no way of paying this amount, and I certainly do not want my poor wife’s paycheck going to the debt. What happens when I file for bankruptcy? Will it affect my wife’s credit? I had perfect credit with excellent history until this happened. If I file for bankruptcy, will I lose all my current in-good-standing credit card with my bank? I don’t owe anything nor do I have any outstanding debt except this medical bill. Is it possible to file for bankruptcy but keep my wife’s credit score out of it? What are the requirements to quality for chapter 7? I heard that medical debt is unsecured, so it can be discharged. I have no job, unable to find job in this economy, I was going to cheap community college when this whole thing happened. What should I do? I need help. It took the lawyer and the court system to actually finalize (discharge) the whole thing in September of 2007. In the meantime, our home was foreclosed on, which was included in the bankruptcy. Now it is impossible for us to buy a home for our family until the foreclosure has been 3 years or more. We didn’t want to file bankruptcy, I mean who really does, but I lost my job when my company closed and his (husband) paycheck couldn’t cover enough for us to keep our home. The bankruptcy isn’t what’s hurting us, at this point. It’s the foreclosure. Is there anything I can do to appeal the existence of this foreclosure on our report since it was the lack of filing in a timely manner by the lawyer that caused the process in the first place? Or is there any way around the foreclosure to purchase a home?
I’m not looking to sue….The lenders are the ones telling us that the bankruptcy is not the issue. Our credit score is good, we have established credit again, in good standings, just like before. We were never late EVER until the bottom fell out 3 years ago. Divorce was on the horizon….we have 2 children…I could go on and on. All I am asking is why is it that the foreclosure is so much more detrimental to our report and ability to get credit than the bankruptcy? we were trying to buy a house before the market went back up and we can’t afford it…….that’s what we have been advised to do by our lawyer. Is that not right after all?
My best friend is going through a hard time right now emotionally, and physically. She has acquired alot of medical bills greater than 7,000 dollars worth. They are now taking over 0 every other week out of her paycheck, which she can not afford. I have mentioned to her to file bankruptcy, she is also wanting to buy a house with a co-signer, what will this do, and how again, do I find out for her upon her request to help her do i find out when was her last bankruptcy?
Me and my husband are wanting to file bankruptcy. He is in the military and we have a lot of "allotments" (where money comes out of his paycheck automatically before we see it to creditors) How long will it take after we file bankruptcy until we are no longer obligated to make payments to these creditors or when can we stop the allotments? Does it happen as soon as you file or what?
Also, Does filing bankruptcy effect you being able to rent a house/apartment?

I am deliquent on 7 cards for 3 months but only one card has been calling me since the payment was 2 days late. They have called me from 8 am till 10 pm, monday thru sunday. I have written to them and even sent small payments at first but have stopped that since I can’t afford it and it made no difference to them. Their law firm called me a few minutes ago (yes on a sunday morning). I have no money to pay them anything and am a couple months away from not even being able to pay rent, so the credit card bill is last on my list. I live in a cheap apartment in a bad area, walk or take the bus (have no car), nothing valuable and no money in the bank except when pay small paycheck goes in (I make about 700 month after taxes and also have a child to feed. I wanted to file bankruptcy but cannot find anyone in this state (Texas) that offers free legal aid. If I was a violent criminal, I could get an attorney, but for bankruptcy, no one will help. I was stable for 14 years.
circumstances changed for me last year and my world fell apart. If I do ever get to file bankruptcy, can it remove a judgement from a card company if they got one on me? I have no disposable income so I don’t know what they could really get.
I’m married but filing for Chapter 7 myself, not joint. My wife will be getting tuition reimbursement in a paycheck coming up. Can this income be deducted in the Means Test? Should we change her direct deposit so that it gets deposited into her personal checking account without my name on it? I don’t want this income to count against me as it will be used for her class tuition. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Even ASE are being looked at. Many independant companies asking them to use their skills to figure out something. There are predictions going around that we’ll have a major bankruptcy wave, then gas prices will finally fall in about 8 years because of alternative energy sources…
And during all this Exxon Mobile… Who has nothing to do with the prices, so they say, are making even larger record profits than last year, even when gas sales are down.

I am filing PRO SE. I don’t have a attorney because I didn’t have 1500.00 to retain one. I have called several law offices but attorneys don’t seem to ever be in the office. I already turned in all my paperwork and my case worker said my paperwork was all there and looked great. I just don’t know how to stop the garnishments.
I have about k in credit card debt. I just recently have been having trouble keeping up with payments due to job and economy. I spoke with the creditors to make arrangements to pay lower amounts and close out the accounts. Over 0 a month just in paying those back. Now am being sued by a former employer for charge offs (commission job). I cannot afford an attorney for a civil suit (don’t know what to do about that either) and two if I lose I can’t afford to pay more than I already am (more than the 0 i’m already paying). Do I wait until after the lawsuit to file BK? Or should I start the process now? Not sure how civil suits can be handled and if you can file BK on a judgment like that. Please help as I am in over my head and am scared I won’t be able to survive if majority of my paycheck goes to creditors and lawsuit judgment. Thank you!
I am a 19 year old college student living 3,000 miles away from my family. I pay for college myself with a combination of scholarships and student loans, and I have a part time job that pays my bills. I pay for everything myself; food, rent, transportation (I don’t have a car, I ride the bus), medication, etc. My parents do not support me monetarily in any way.
Three years ago, the company my father worked for went bankrupt. Because of the economy, he has been unable to find a job. There is zero chance he’ll find a job that pays what his old job paid, but he won’t take any menial job, even for a few years until the economy gets better. My mother’s company is on the verge of going bankrupt and she has had her salary cut in half. They lost the house to foreclosure and are now living in a small rental.
Because of these issues, my parents have asked me to start sending parts of my paycheck to them. I have been giving them enough to help them pay smaller bills, like heat or water, but I can’t afford to give them more. Recently, my work hours have been cut back (economy), and I’m not making as much extra money as I used to. I told them I would be unable to continue helping them, but they got upset and told me it’s my duty as a daughter to help my parents in a time of need. They say that with all they’ve given me, I should give back to them. I want to help, but I’m running out of money. What should I do?

I am filing for bankruptcy on Friday and I have been having problems with a particular creditor that has been harassing me at work and trying to take money from my bank acct and paycheck without proper authorization. Needless to say I am happy to get rid of this particular creditor.
I have just found out that this company is in the UK, I am wondering if my debt will be discharged and if so, will the creditor in the UK follow the rules of not contacting me after I file my bankruptcy papers?

Could they take your money out of your bank account when you have debts and collection agency always looking for you? I am planning on filing bankruptcy but I will need to have money for other things like attorney and money to live. Does anybody of you know if after a while those debts if you don’t file bankruptcy they go into your w4 ?
Then you’ll find yourself owing money to the IRS through the franchise tax board. I saw it in a movie and is worrying me. I thought at the very least they can take what you own, like cars. houses, or anything in your propriety , but I never heard that, IRS or whoever, can take actually money out of your account…

Can they get six months behind in paying these taxes and social security. If they go bankrupt and not paid my taxes they have taken out of my paycheck, am I responsible for paying the taxes.
