Need help to file for bankruptcy. Please help?

I’m in trouble what can I say and the only thing left is to file bankruptcy. I do own a home and I’m current with the payments.I do not want to lose my home. What I make right now is just enough to support myself and my kids. Few years ago my then husband took a second mortgage on another property that we own at that time. After separation we have lost that home and we agree for me to remain in this home now and pay for it which I do. The problem is that things changed. I lost my job , divorce etc and we stop paying that loan. Its about 27.000 dollars. After stop paying the loan was handed to a collection agency. I agree to pay them 100 a month. But is getting harder in harder to go by. Mortgage , food, gas , 2 kids ,etc I can’t make it. I really don’t have any other debt except a 1800 dollars credit card that is still current. I have a part time job now and I don’t know how to make it.The ex husband don’t help. My question is can i file to bankruptcy on my own? I don’t have money to pay a attorney. My credit is ruined already.I need to get out of this without loosing my home. When I did my taxes I paid off some other bills that I had. I don’t want to do this just to get away from my debt, but I don’t see any other option. I make 900 a month.
Thanks
i forgot to say that I live in Illinois

Paying online jobs for somebody under 18?

I am 17 years old (6 months shy of 18!), and I need money.

My family is filing for bankruptcy and I’m going to need to make some money to pay for college books and other (social and recreational) expenses. However, I get sick a lot and have a weak immune system, there are no jobs available in town, and I have no source of transportation. Working for a company online would be ideal for me. I could do it whenever I want, wouldn’t have to worry about being too sick, and countless other reasons. However, I can’t seem to find anything that suits me. I’ve looked at survey sites, but they all seem to be hours of work for 50 cents. I want decent pay for decent work. I don’t expect to "get rich quick" or anything like that, I just want a job that will pay at least 10 dollars for an hour’s work (as my friends who work at fast food joints get paid at least that much).

So basically: Decent (or well) paying job online available to a 17 year old that isn’t too much work for not enough pay. Is there anything out there for me or am I just dreaming?
I would also like to acknowledge the fact that I’m not looking for snotty remarks and worthless answers. I am aware that there are scams and pyramid schemes and stupid crap like that, I was asking whether or not there are jobs available online. I know for a fact that people work online (my dad’s friend Doug works online for an advertising company, he does graphs and calculations and that is a part time job for him), I was just wondering if any job like this existed for someone under 18 years of age. I’m not sure if "freelance" would be the right term, but I’m looking for something similar. Please refrain from comments that imply that I’m naive or stupid, because I am not and it just makes you come off as a judgmental and inconsiderate member of this community. Thank you.
I worked at a magazine for 7 months on a paid internship. I imput data, called advertisers, did research related to the magazine, formatted certain articles and edited many. I am a published writer as I have both a published poem and published articles. Those are (some of – I can’t list them all)my qualifications/experience. I don’t mind imputting data or doing mundane things like that, I just need a job because my family is desperate.

Online Trading Academy?

Has anyone ever heard of/done classes with Online Trading Academy? Is it a good idea? I’m an 18 year old who’s just started college and living with my parents…they’ve been through a lot financially in the past 2 years and it’s come to the point where they are now filing for bankruptcy…I’d really like to help them out and I don’t think a part-time job will be enough. I’d like to get into the stock market but with college I don’t really have the time to bury my head in books at the library trying to learn the stuff myself…is Online Trading Academy a good idea?

How to get money for college when family in bankruptcy?

My parents have filed bankruptcy and it wont be up for 2 more years. I start college this fall, but we don’t qualify for state or federal grants because "we make too much money". What the FASFA people don’t realize is the payment they make monthly to the bankruptcy court. My parents are so poor they have to borrow money from me that I make at my part time job, just to buy groceries. I wont be able to work much when school starts and I was wondering if anyone knew of some scholarships (no matter how little, every bit helps) or grants so that paying for books and related expenses wouldn’t be such a hassle. Tuition is free until i leave my community college (I have %75 bright futures). I just need help paying for books, supplies, and possibly gas. Can anyone help?
No loans whatsoever. I need grants or scholarships.

Should he go with bankruptcy?

My pops lost his job earlier this year due his boss’s stupidity managing the business not because of the recession. He has always been the one supporting the family with his job for so many years. I’m struggling to make ends meet with my piece of crap job myself then I am drowning in student loan debts and many others. My brother has a really good paying job working at a steel plant. Mom doesn’t work because she is on disability and never ever seriously worked when she was able to work except two jobs she had in my whole lifetime. That was nearly two decades ago. That is more hurt to the wound also. My brother gave my dad an option that maybe he should file for bankruptcy to bail himself out of the hardships the family is dealing with. I know nothing about bankruptcy nor how that would help him out. Only my brother knows about that since it was his idea.

My brother came to me tonight saying things will get tough here at home because he can’t continue pulling all the weight paying all the bills my dad used to pay. Even if I do step in and take my brother’s place keeping the family surviving, that is still not going to be any better. The reason is because I too will have to forever be stuck in this rut we are in as long as my dad is messed up. Dad is doing his best working a part time job and doing some his side business he has at home. The money he makes total is not enough. I have my own debts that needs to be paid off. I also want to be able to live my life the way I should being on my own. I am all grown up now and it is way past my time to move out and live my life like I wished and hoped for. I never wanted to be stuck at home growing older ever year. All I’m saying is that if my brother get to the point where he can no longer help out then that would put me in the position to keep this family afloat. I don’t mind doing it, but it is not something I can continue doing for the rest of my life just for the sake of keeping all the debts paid on time.
David most of my debt came from student loans and car payments on an older used model, car insurance, etc. My job is crap because it does not pay enough to live on. Yes my hardwork getting a degree has gone to waste. I’m not getting any luck finding work related to me degree or any other work.

Filing for bankruptcy. What do I need to know?

Here’s my situation. I graduated from college in December 05 and believe it or not, I have not found a full time, good paying job yet. Yeah, I believe I just wasted money and energy on nothing.

Anyways, I’m working a part time job and make approx 0 a month. I have ,000 in credit card debt, most of which I’m still paying from when I was in college 3 years ago (books, food, so on) I have ,000 in student loans, ,000 in medical bills, and it seems everytime i make a payment, it goes to waste because the interests keep rising. I even pay more than the minimum payment. If a credit card is lets say minimum, I will pay about 5, but it’s still not good enough cause the interests will raise that back.

I can’t keep going like this. My credit score is crappy so I can’t get a consolidation loan to pay all of it all.

Would I be able to file for bankruptcy? I have tried everything to get out of debts. I don’t charge anything to my credit cards any longer, but it is still that bad.

What should I do?

Debt solutions, what should I do?

Like most Americans, I’m in debt. I’m a student with a part-time job and I’ve sunk into some pretty nasty debts. I have medical bills to take care of, as well as other other stuff. I’ve read a bit about debt consolidation and lots of sources say it’s pretty much a scam (you’re not eliminating the debt, you’re just moving it). I don’t think bankruptcy is a good idea.

What can a college student (undergrad) do to eliminate 00+ debt? Are there loan programs that just give you money and a few years before you have to start repaying it? Are there other alternatives?
I’ve decreased personal expenses to pretty much nonexistant. I don’t really buy clothes and food and such and all of my expenses are either medical bills, textbooks, or a monthly laptop payment.

Really quick – if I file bankruptcy, can my parents lose their house?

I owe about 50K in debt, but 27K is student loans, 3K to my parents and less than 2K is taxes. meaning I would be file on about 18K. But I moved back at home. So when I get asked what my address is, I have to give the address of my parents house – which they own. I live in New York state and I work a part-time job making .50 an hour. And trust me, I have been looking for something better.

Are my parents at any risk of losing their home if I file bankruptcy???

when should I consider foreclosure?

At what point should I throw in the towel and just call it quits? here is my situation in a nut shell. I am losing valuable equity in home everyday and my mtg payment has increased to equal 55% of my income. Meaning the other 45% is all I have to live on. Well the rest of my expenses considered I am about short each month. This is before other neccesities such as groceries and gas etc. So for the last 5-6 months I have been putting all those expenses on credit cards. I am now about maxed out. I am considering filing for forclosure and then bankruptcy but I really dont want to do that. My options are to
A. Stay in home and tough it out.
1. get another job that pays higher than current (I am trying)
2. get a 2nd part time job (been looking)
or B. File Forclosure/Bankruptcy
1. Move into a Condo or rental property I can afford
Your help is greatly appreciated. I also have a wife who works a little but doesnt make enough to really be a help.

Is it better to complete a debt settlement program or to file bankruptcy?

I lost my job in early September and have run into some serious financial problems. I have a part time job and I should be receiving unemployment but they denied me at first and I have to wait for a hearing to appeal that decision, and they are super backed up and I will not even find out when my hearing is for another four weeks. I took out a distribution from my 401k, went through that, and they are taking their sweet time getting another distribution sent out to me. None of my accounts have been sent to collections yet, but they are almost there. I am considering bankruptcy or using one of those companies that negotiates better interest rates with my creditors and gets them to reduce my debt by up to 40%. I want to know which route I will recover from quicker. I eventually want to buy a house, take out student loans, etc. I keep hearing that bankruptcy is not as bad as it has been made out to be, and I have heard nothing about how debt settlement programs effect your credit. Does anyone have any advice?

I can't afford to keep paying my parents' bills. How do I say no?

I am a 19 year old college student living 3,000 miles away from my family. I pay for college myself with a combination of scholarships and student loans, and I have a part time job that pays my bills. I pay for everything myself; food, rent, transportation (I don’t have a car, I ride the bus), medication, etc. My parents do not support me monetarily in any way.

Three years ago, the company my father worked for went bankrupt. Because of the economy, he has been unable to find a job. There is zero chance he’ll find a job that pays what his old job paid, but he won’t take any menial job, even for a few years until the economy gets better. My mother’s company is on the verge of going bankrupt and she has had her salary cut in half. They lost the house to foreclosure and are now living in a small rental.

Because of these issues, my parents have asked me to start sending parts of my paycheck to them. I have been giving them enough to help them pay smaller bills, like heat or water, but I can’t afford to give them more. Recently, my work hours have been cut back (economy), and I’m not making as much extra money as I used to. I told them I would be unable to continue helping them, but they got upset and told me it’s my duty as a daughter to help my parents in a time of need. They say that with all they’ve given me, I should give back to them. I want to help, but I’m running out of money. What should I do?
Because the first answerer asked, I have a 16 year old sister.
