Should I stay with a 43 year old, out of work man living with his parents?

Okay, I met a 43 year old divorced father of two and we’ve been sort of seeing each other for the past 3 months. He says he has really fallen for me, so much in fact that he has told me he loves me. The thing is, he moved back in with his parents because of the divorce, but that was over a year ago. He used to have his own business, but the business went bankrupt and he has not worked in awhile (definitely not since I’ve met him). I just am starting to wonder if he even has any motivation to do anything other than trying to hang out with me and talk to me! We hardly see each other because of the living situation and when we do hang out all he talks about is how he misses me, how he likes (and now loves) me so much, etc… I just don’t know if I can be with a man who doesn’t work, lives with his parents and isn’t doing anything about it! He says he’s getting his own place in a couple of weeks, but I am struggling to believe this is true considering he still isn’t working and doesn’t have any savings! I think he is a genuinely good person, but I don’t know if that’s enough. My question is this…is there hope for him? Should I stick it out and see if things change? To me it just seems bad because he has been living this way for so long, it’s like he wants to move, but financially can’t get his stuff together! For being 43, I just expect more I suppose….is this wrong of me? Or, should I hit the road and end this now?? Please, any advice will do!!

My details:
***I am 34 years old (no kids, if that matters) and do have a full time job as well as go to school.
I completely understand Steven’s point and I do give the guy credit for the ambition to try and do something on his own, but in all reality his own business was just himself and a couple of guys he could call on to come help on bigger projects. I’m not trying to downplay it, that’s just the reality. I still admire the ambition, I completely understand the horrible economic situation that’s been going on and I know it is really tough on American’s, whether you have a job or not….I don’t want to come off as not being totally sympathetic to that.

Can my dad file bankruptcy?

My dad owe ,000 to credit cards, lines of credit etc..

It all started when we bought a house. My dad was the only one working. After two months purchasing the house, my dad lost his job. So, hoping the he’ll find another job, my dad kept on paying the mortgage, property tax etc from his credit cards.

He did not find any job. My mom found a job but not a good paying job.

After 3 years, we couldn’t afford it and sold the house.

Right now, we live in an apartment. My dad is diabetic and has other medical problems and can’t find any job. Also, his language difficulty is preventing him from finding a job.

My mom works and its enough just for rent and food for our family.

My dad keeps getting phone calls from credit companies and stuff asking him to pay. My mom gives him 50 or 100 bucks per month to pay his credit cards but she can’t do this every month because she only earn that extra if she works extra hours. She has arthritis and her doctor told she shouldn’t work much.
My parents’ first language is not English, hence my dad has difficulties with English.

My parents are buying me a house but I need to file bankruptcy. What should I do to keep my home safe?

I am very nervous about what can happen to my home. I am waiting for a closing date as my parents gave me money to purchase a modest home. I am married and my husband and I need to file bankruptcy. We lost our home to forclosure a few years ago, lost our vehicles and had some credit cards. My parents want to see me enjoy part of my my inheritance now and I also have health issues that allow me to only work part time. I know I need to contact an attourney but I dont have the money for that yet. We are still renting but will be closing within the next 2 weeks. What should we do when we file? Again, the home will be only in my name which I am not sure if this will help or not. My husband has some personal credit issues and I as well. But, most of our issues are together. We believe we should file a chapter 13. He is a school teacher and I am a part time self employed music teacher. He also owes a lot of money on student loans from getting his Bachelors degree. I am 51 years old, am very grateful to my parents yet very nervous about losing my home. Thank you !
My parents do not want the home in their name as they do not want to pay Insurance and taxes among other reasons. I have heard of many people owning homes and filing chapter 13. If this is the answer do you think we need to do it soon so the courts do see that we are trying to resolve the issue after recieving this gift? They will also see that our hardship and loss was due to my husband being in the mortgage industry and my health issues.
Thank you for your answers. Here is my second question to my second answer.
We had put down a chunk of money for escrow. We were to close a few weeks ago until Fannie Mae said that they need go over the homes forclosure papers. Something was not done exact. I and Fannie Mae signed an extension. Can I back out of the deal and do the bankruptcy then look again for a home again? Or, will I lose the escrow money which my dad would kill me for that. That is my concern now?
Omg… yes they paid cash…. And, yes it is in my name only.

Lawsuit question… Im 24 and 156k in debt from an accident that happened when i was 16 years old.?

When I was 16 years old I was driving my parents vehicle and their insurance had just lapsed. I was coming up to a 3 way intersection and my brake line snapped and I ended up hitting this woman, no serious injury’s and alchohol was not involved. any way, the lady that i hit sued my parents for 145k, needless to say my parents didnt have that kinda cash just laying around so they filed bankruptcy. then they (the people that sued my parents) waited until i turned 20 and sued me for 156k. the majority of the amount they sued me for was the cost of their vehical… which was an 84 conversion van. Is this legal? can they sue my parents, then sue me? is it legal to sue someone who was a minor when something happened when that person turns of legal age? thats why they sued my parents to begin with because i wasn’t old enough to be held legally responsible. please help what should i do? they took my license and i cant drive and im 24 now. i don’t know what to do but this don’t seem right
Ok, i dont know how they did it but when they sued me i had moved out of state and some how they served my papers ot my parents and not me, and YES the majority of the lawsuit outlined their van, and YES i KNOW that she didnt have any major injury’s only a broken toe …YES a broken toe. AND NO i KNOW that at 16 you cant hold somone responsible in a civil suit. if your going to sue somone that is 16 you cant. u have to sue their parents. that 16 year old is not legally responsible for his/her actions in a civil suit.when i confronted the ATTNY that sued me his exact words were, "how old were you then? …16… and how old are you now? 22… well your old enough to be held responsible now arent ya!" thats the exact convo that i had with the lawyer 2 years ago when i found out they sued me. and they DID NOT sue me and my parents at the same time, they sued my parents, my parents filed bankruptcy THEN they sued me.
oh and they took my license for failure to pay the suit. If i were neglegent than i can see it but i didnt know that my parents had no insurance, and did nothing wrong, my car malfunctioned and i got into an ACCIDENT, not like i was trying to street race and drift through a 3 way intersection or somthing.

Should I get a divorce or try to work it out?

I have been married almost 3 years. I have 2 children under 2 yrs old. My husband has a pill problem and is a thief. He has stolen my money so many times I have had to file bankruptcy. I can’t have credit cards, a checking account, or anything. My husband always begs me to come back and I do because I love him. Earlier this year, he stole the last 0 I had and bought pills and wrecked my car. We couldn’t even pay the utilities on our house. (well, I couldn’t pay them, my husband doesn’t have a job.) So he moved in with his dad and I moved in with mine. Recently after we moved in with our dads, I found out I was pregnant. My husband got kicked out of his dads house for stealing and being on pills. He had nowhere to go so I let him stay with me to help me with our newborn daughter. Last week he was on pills again and stole some money from my dad and me so my dad kicked him out. Every time this happens he says he is done with the pills and it won’t happen again. I always take him back and this time I said he cannot stay with my dad and I. We have a house that I am still making payments on but since he doesn’t have a job I can’t pay for the house, utilities, and groceries by myself. Thats why I’m living with my dad so my kids will have water and heat. He is now telling me that he is completely done with pills. His mom is going to put him in therapy and he is going to apply for jobs and possibly go to the army. I do love him and that would be fine but I’m afraid I can’t trust him. My parents are begging me to get a divorce. But even if I do I know I will still see him alot because of the kids and that will be hard for me. When we got married I knew he already had 1 kid which was fine but since we got married he found out he has another and next month he is getting a DNA test for another, which that is really hard for me to deal with. I know he didn’t cheat on me. But if he does get a job, all his money will go to child support for these other kids? He has been put in jail more than once for back child support and is also being questioned for some residential break ins. I am afraid if I leave him I won’t find anyone else and if I did find someone else my husband would make it hell for me. I’m sure it sounds like a no brainer I wish I could turn off my feelings but I really do love this guy too much. I just wanted an outside opinion from someone that doesn’t know us. Thanks in advance
I do not have a drug problem, and when he is on drugs I do keep the kids away from him.

why does my life suck, and what should I do?

I have been pushed around and made fun of my entire life, I had no friends growing up, I was beat up constantly, and my parents were both drunks, so I got beaten at home too. My mother used to put out cigarettes on my head. It got that the school beatings were less then the home beatings so I did not want to go home. The kids in school got together and made an award for me as the most unpopular kid in school when I was in 6th grade. I graduated high school, and my luck never got better, during high school my parents got divorced and blamed the entire thing on me and said I was an accident, and they wish they had never had me. They both put on their item list that neither one of them wanted custody of me.Then I flunked out of college, couldn’t hold a decent job, I still had no friends. and that went on until I was 23 when I met my now wife, and for the first time in my life I was happy, she liked me for me, and she was good to me. A year and a half ago we got married, and she totally changed. She became very abusive and calls me an effen retard, and stupid a@@ all the time, and she hits me with things and smacks me calling me retarded. I had thought about divorce and then we found out that she was pregnant, and the first words out of her mouth were I hope that our kid is not a retard like you, so now I can’t divorce her. We also recently had to file bankruptcy, and I lost my car and my job, and up until recently have been unemployed for the last six months, and we got evicted from our apartment, and had to move back in with my dad. Let me tell you I am 26, and I still feel like a child, I get picked on from both of them, and my mother when I see her, I have no car to get away and no friends to hang out with, I am seriously considering suicide, but I don’t want to leave another child without a father, and I always swore I would try to be a better parent than mine were to me, but I wonder if I can be. I an not happy in my marriage and I would never cheat on my wife, but she doesen’t believe in sexual relations anymore, just to add fuel to the fire. I mean all my life I have never had someone that I could go hang out with who thought I was cool, and when someone tried to talk to me I tried so hard to get them to like me, that they all run away. I cry daily now, and just want to give up, I have no hobbies, I would like to learn how to ride a horse, and at 260lbs, everyplace I tried laughed at me and said I was too fat, I can’t fit in anywhere, and I am typing this as a last resort to see if anyone actually cares, but I don’t feel that I will get any responses

How to teach or punish a teenager infatuated with Democrats that when you buy on credit its NOT your money?

My nephew has received a "bail out" from his parents TWO TIMES and he has not learned his lesson!

He applies for a lot of credit, goes on a spending spree, charges 2 or 3 cards to the near max leaving one open then he says that he will pay the cards back "when he gets a job over the summer."

The first time he accumulated ,000 of credit card debt, the second time ,000 of debt!

Now he got a new line of credit and has already accumulated ,500 dollars on it in less than 2 months!

I say that his parents SHOULD NOT pay the balance and let him file for BANKRUPTCY!

How else can he learn his lesson!?
HE IS OBVIOUSLY VERY DANGEROUS WITH CREDIT!

I guess his parents never taught him finance as a kid!

Let this be a lesson to parents everywhere who think that their kids are "too young for money."
He is 19 but I use "teenager" because he still acts like a teen with no sense of money!

How can I buy my sister's half of inherited house when she has a previous foreclosure debt to settle?

My parents passed away and left their house to my sister and I. I wanted to buy her half but the sale is bogged down at the title company because she filed bankruptcy 10 years ago and her home was foreclosed on. She owes a certain amount plus interest. Does she have to pay this? Does this mean there is a lien on our house?

Can you file Chapter 11 bankruptcy after having filed Chapter 7?

I filed personal chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2007.
I now own a business, a daycare, that is failing due to so many parents being out of work.
Is Chapter 11 the proper bankruptcy to file for this type of debt, and if so, am I eligible?

How do you fix a background check error?

My daughter recently saw her employee record and pre-employment background check. It listed her as HIGH RISK. She has a perfect credit history, college degree, excellent employment record and no criminal history. She phoned the background checking agency and asked why. They responded that she is HIGH RISK because she is my daughter and when I went through a life challenging health challenge and became disabled, I had to file for bankruptcy. Because my daughter was living at home at the time of my illness / bankruptcy, they say that makes her HIGH RISK. My health crises and bankruptcy should have NOTHING to do with my daughter’s life. Is this legal? If not, how do we fix this? Who knows how many jobs she has been denied because of the false HIGH RISK status!
She does not live with me. She has had two homes since this happened and nothing has changed this negative report. It simply cannot be legal for an agency to assign blame to one person for another person’s actions. If I committed murder, you wouldn’t also go to jail just because we lived together. If my current landlord files for bankruptcy, it has NOTHING to do with me. A child cannot be responsible in any way for their parents financial collapse due to a near death health challenge.

My parents filed for bankruptcy and foreclosure once, what happens if our house goes on foreclosure again?

My parents just filed a mortgage with Option One along with a loan from a small company called Residential Access. I research Option One online and found many many many consumer complaints on them. Almost all of the complaints have said that they resulted in foreclosure after filing with them.

What do I tell my parents to do seeing the problems they are going to get into? We have already been in foreclosure (with another company) once and I don’t know what will happen if Option One will send us to foreclosure.

How can I prevent this from happening? Can my parents switch to another mortgage company?

PLEASE HELP! my parents are not fluent in english so I have to help them with all this and I am fresh out of high school starting college so I have no idea how the mortgaging and financing system works.

USCIS i-864 Affidavit of Support Question?

Here is the situation, my wife and I are married and she is petitioning me to be a US citizen. We filed I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. USCIS send me a letter that requesting us to submit I-864 Affidavit of Support. I used my wife and one of my close friend to be my sponsor but their income does not meet 125% of poverty line (which is about K) since they are both students and do not make that much. We are really stressed out because it seems no one could help us. Is there any alternative way to find an sponsor? If I can provide a statement from my employer that showing that my estimate annual income is above the 125% of poverty line, will that help?

Also,my wife’s parents agreed to help us but they are also in the process of filing bankruptcy. Will that affect their process? From what I know, the I-864 is an agreement between the sponsor and the US government saying that if the immigrant (Me) can’t not support himself and need to take social welfare. The government may ask the sponsor to pay for it. So in theory, as long as I have a job that can support myself. it should not affect their bankruptcy process right?

Please help. Thanks
Thanks for the quick response. What if my 2010 adjust gross income doesn’t meet K. I’m getting a new job that pays much better (around K). Will a company statement from my employer shows that my estimate annual income help???

Will my truck be liquidated in a chapter 7 bankruptcy?

My parents may be filling for a chapter 7 bankruptcy and have 4 cars in their name (my truck included). I just paid my truck off and am about to put it in my name. If my parents file for bankruptcy soon after I put my truck in my name can they still take my truck? I heard there was a year time period between letting go of assets and filling for banckruptcy before those assets cannot be taken. I live in Colorado Springs, im sure theres different laws depending on state of residence.

Online Trading Academy?

Has anyone ever heard of/done classes with Online Trading Academy? Is it a good idea? I’m an 18 year old who’s just started college and living with my parents…they’ve been through a lot financially in the past 2 years and it’s come to the point where they are now filing for bankruptcy…I’d really like to help them out and I don’t think a part-time job will be enough. I’d like to get into the stock market but with college I don’t really have the time to bury my head in books at the library trying to learn the stuff myself…is Online Trading Academy a good idea?
