I’ve been out of job for long time, plus medical bills and I am facing foreclosure, as well as months of unpaid c/card and one unsecured loan bills. I don’t think I can pay both mortgage and c/card bills. I want to keep the house and the only way out of this situation I see is to file for bankruptcy. I finally have good job offer in my field that i am about to accept. I wonder if I should file while I am still unemployed, or when I have a job. Thank you

I have to wonder why people tell other people not to file bankruptcy because "it will be on your credit report for 7-10 years." I ask this because, if you’re not paying your bills, that too will be on your credit report for a long time. As in, what is the difference? At least when you file bankruptcy, you are consolidating your bills and trying to start over. If you can’t pay your bills, then they’ll just pile-up with late fees and never leave your credit report.

My dad was telling me about 3 different kinds of bankruptcy. Can anyone explain these to me? He told me about when he filed bankruptcy, but that was a LONG time ago, so I was just curious as to if anyone could explain the new laws associated with bankruptcy and the different types. Thanks.

I need to file bankruptcy. My attorney needs me to provide the account numbers. I have checked every credit report and the account numbers are only partially listed. I don’t know what to do. How can I get these numbers? I really need to file and as quickly as possible, where can I get this information? I am not kidding when I say I cannot find the full account numbers anywhere. Am I the only one with this problem?
I haven’t gotten letters from them in a long time, and if I had I wouldn’t know where to find them. I need to find all of them and fast, I don’t have time to wait around for letters to come.
I don’t have my statements, no. I hoped they would be on my credit report but only some of the number is listed, even though I checked all three. The accounts are all charged off. I haven’t touched them in four years.

I have a friend that stated that she applied for a payday loan online and a company she delt with a long time ago got her information and went into her account and took money after she had put them in her bankruptcy. She doesn’t have a computer so she has given the task of trying to find out. She said that she spoke with someone at the company she applied with and then found out that the same person worked for yet another company in a call center. Is this right, does one company own all of them and can put you in a trick bag getting your infomation from a new company you apply with and then getting into your bank account because yo owe them money when leagally she filed bankruptcy.

My husband has been in the hospital 5 times since February. We do not have medical Insurance because of many reasons. When he was in the hospital the only way the family could survive without his income was to put everything from groceries to CIPS on the credit cards because we had no income coming in. Now that he is back to good health and we are both working we still don’t make enough to pay off all these bills. We tried filing for state aid to help with the medical but we were denied. The medical bills alone are over 40 thousand and the credit cards are probably around another 10 thousand. What should we do? If we file will we loose our house and car too? I would like to just erase the medical and credit card debt but keep some other small loans that we have. Is this possible?
and if we do file, what will that do to our credit? Will be not be able to get a loan for a long time?

I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy protection on April 20, 2010. Every single creditor was notified of the filing, including the creditor being represented by NCO financial. Despite this NCO financial engaged in very harassing and nasty behavior. When I did not pick up the phone, they never left any message and hung up. They used different phone number each time to do that. When I called them back, I kept getting a message, "Please hold. All our lines are very busy". I kept holding for almost 20 minutes and this same message was repeated.
I hung up. Then i called back again and was put on hold for a very long time. A rude man came on the line saying I have to pay 0 immediately and it must be resolved right now. I said I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy protection. He said he needed proof that I filed it and will not go by my word, so I must pay. I hung up.
Then 20 minutes later another call from NCO financial came where they left no message. By now I found my bankruptcy case number. I called them back and was again put for a long hold. Then i told the agent (this time it was another rude man) i filed chapter 7 and have case number too.
After telling him the case number he responded, "we still have to verify this. its not enough. what is the phone number and address of your lawyer?" I gave them the address and phone number of my lawyer. Then he asked, "what is the zip code of the office". I said, "i’m sorry I can’t recall the zip code but you can check it on google"
He then said, "you are not complying and we will call again". By then I hung up the phone being fed up.
he made zip code a big issue. This was cruel on his part.

A long time ago I apparently had a utlility bill that I didn’t pay in full in a town I lived in for only a year. Well apparently it has ballooned to about 1300.00. I am currently filing bankruptcy and was wondering if you could but that in also with the other debt.
thank you:)

Today I found out I lost the house I have had a contract on since last April (2009). I was attempting to buy a house in short sale, the house went into foreclosure and so I have been waiting a long time for the banks/FDIC to get it all together so we could close. Well, Obama signed in a new law (July 2nd, 2009) forcing people who have had their homes foreclosed to return to their homes and in turn forcing the banks to refinance. The alternative for these people is to file bankruptcy (which some have already done, and others have found a solution to just barely stay financially afloat). This may sound like a great solution for all the unfortunate families who have recently lost their homes, but in truth it is a disaster. Who is to say these people can afford or even want to move back?
In my case, the house I was attempting to buy was owned by a family who were over their head with a double mortgage. They were forced to foreclose and have since downsized and purchased a new home. Now with the new law they will be forced to return to their previous home or face bankruptcy. They will have to find a way to sell their current home, which of course is very difficult in today’s economy. The previous owners do not want to return, they can’t afford the move, nor the wait to sell their current home, which they probably won’t even be able to sell in today’s economy.
As for me. I am losing close to ,500 in money spent on contracts etc. I of course have no rights and will not be able to recoup my losses.
Thousands of foreclosed homeowners are dealing with similar situations. For some this may be a blessing if they are still searching for a new living situation. Of course this doesn’t teach any lessons other than to live beyond your means and don’t worry about the consequences because the government will bail you out. Be financially responsible and get screwed. For others they are facing difficult decisions deciding what to do with their new lives and the homes they are being forced to return to. Then for all the buyers, who have been in contract to buy these foreclosed homes and begin to repair the hole in the housing industry. Well they are all SOL and out a lot of money, like me. Believe me, with my meager salary that is cut in half by taxes, ,500 is SUBSTANTIAL!!!
So I ask you, where are our freedoms going and why do we just let the government take them? How does this stimulate an economy? All I can foresee is a rise in bankruptcy and a lot of people losing money.
Of course there are tons of other issues we can discuss that provide similar examples our diminishing freedoms, and the socialization of our country. Such as, when 80% of the general population is happy with the health care system yet government chooses to change it, control it, and force their plan down our throats.
How can anyone be happy with Obama?

I know we’ve had Ford GM and Chrysler for a long time, but what should happen if our car companies go out of Business, and how are we going to manufacture or transportation?

I got into financial trouble after my divorce when my ex wasn’t paying child support. I am still so far behind there is no way I can ever catch up! I want to file bankruptcy, but when I called a bankruptcy attorney he said it will cost me 00 up front to file. If I could afford to pay that, I wouldn’t need to file bankruptcy! Help! Is there another way to file without paying all those fees?
Let me add that I have not been paying these creditors for a very long time. I can barely afford to pay rent, utilities, car payment and put food on the table for my kids. There is NO WAY I can come up with that kind of money!

My wife and I are about 0,000 in debt. 95% of that is due to medical bills. My wife has several medical problems that will never go away. So if I file bankruptcy now I’ll have new medical bills to put me in debt again. If I don’t file soon I’ll be garnished. We are trying to get disability filed for her but it takes quite a long time and even when she gets it they wont give her any medical coverage for two years. I never dreamed that I’d be in this spot. To make matters worse I’ve been on workman’s comp for over a year. I had a back surgery in Jan., ‘09 that failed and comp, in their infinite wisdom is dragging their feet in getting it corrected. So we are surviving on 0 a week. I see no light at the end of this tunnel. I guess we are the poster children for health care reform. I’ve searched all possible solutions that I could think of.
Frustrated!

I have filed personal bankruptcy and no one will even look at my loan application and I cannot find grants to help me in my venture. I don’t even know how to prepare a business plan or proposal. Know of anyone looking to invest in a promising business venture? Paintball is a highly popular sport today and has been around for a very long time.

I stopped paying my credit cards long time ago and 1 year after i got back on my feet I decided to contact a debt advisor and started paying my old credit cards, I wonder if it would’ve been better to just file bankruptcy than paying these credit cards since it seems that it will take the same time to recover my long lost fair credit.
