If you are unable to work for an illnes and have ssdi do you have to get an attorney for bankruptcy? that is my only form of income. I do not own a home but make car payments I need to get to the doctor. thanks

Bankruptcy in MN – New car?

I was unemployed for about 4 months earlier this year. During that time my car payments as well as other payments fell behind. I have been trying to catch them up, unfortunately when I got my new job I took a massive pay cut and can no longer afford the payments. Last week my car got repo’d. I would have to come up with 00 in order to get it back as well as figure out how to manage the payments on top of my other past due bills. This has proven nearly impossible if not completely impossible. Therefore I am going to attempt to file bankruptcy. However, I am borrowing 00 from a family member to buy a 00 vehicle (like i said i live in MN and walking everywhere is very cold). But my question is this: If I do go get this car before the bankruptcy is filed, will they take and sell the car to try to pay off the debts? Or should I just put it in a friend or family members name till the bankruptcy is filed and over-with?

File Bankruptcy to keep car, and rebuild credit?

I purchased a vehicle about 3 years ago. After the economic disaster 2 years ago, I was devistated and unable to pay my debts. I am currently almost 2 years behind on my car payments, and all other debts such as credit cards etc. The only reason my car has not been repossed yet is because I soon moved to an undisclosed location so that I can return to college. At this point, I still have not been able to find a stable income to pay my debts. I’m certain that by now, my credit is already ruined. The fact of the matter is I need my car and turning it over is not an option; however, I can not go on forever without doing anything.

My question is… How can I keep my car in my current situation by filing bankruptcy? Could the debt be totally wiped clean, or would there be some alternative payment plan set up?
After checking, The auto loan was actually charged off by the bank one year ago. Before making any contacts, I need to know if it is possible to still keep the car.

I Have A Debt / Bankruptcy Question?

Here is my story.
I am a 27 year old married mom of 2. Hubby is bipolar and can’t work. I have a few medical ailments that prevent me from working much outside of the home.
We have about ,000 of debt. Counsumer credit card, past utilities, medical expenses, etc.

We WANT to pay them off. Our problem is we don’t know if we should work with a debt consildation program or simple file for bankruptcy. Our income fluxuates from 0 a month to 00. We live in Ohio. Our rent is 5.00. We have no car payments. We own a 1982,1992,1993) We never go out to eat, go to movies, I am wearing the same clothes from when I was 18. Trust me, there is no way to cut back on anything.
I am just not sure if we can even afford to come up with a debt consilidation plan given our situation and income limits. Would it be better both emotionally and financially to just wipe the slate clean? Thoughts/Tips/Appreciated…stinky butts need not answer! THANKS!

Would it be better if I went bankrupt instead of trying to pay off my huge debt? I posted this in Finance, too

I am in over my head in debt. Every month I have to "borrow" at least 0 extra dollars just to pay my bills. My husband and I recently separated. He left me to take care of all the bills. Currently I am a 4th grade teacher and make about ,000 a year. Every debt is in my name (including a car that I got in my name for him, that he now refuses to pay for because someone else put another car in their name for him–his sister). He didn’t have a job at the time, so most of the major stuff that we have gotten was in my name when we got married.

I am probably about ,000 in debt with credit cards; ,000 in student loans; 00 in personal loans; ,000 in car payments (2 cars–1 is almost paid for).

I have no extra income other than the child support (5 a month for 2 small babies that I raise alone). I use the child support on them instead of on me or bills because that is what it is for.

Am I an idiot for trying to pay all these bills off monthly and have no money extra to buy groceries and gas???Should I just file bankruptcy?
That is all you get in MS for 2 kids based on his income and he has a pretty decent factory job (around here that is the best you’ll get with no degree).

I don’t own a home. I rent. Yes he ran up the cards by refusing to give me money to pay the bills, so I had to use the cards.
