How long does it take to begin filing bankruptcy?
I need to file bankruptcy and I’m wondering how long does the process take.
I understand I have to take a class or something like that.

In debt really bad…considering filing bankruptcy..?
Okay, so I’m about 12,000 in debt. I have three credit cards I’m currently paying on. I called a debt counselor and was hoping they could lower my monthly payments. I pay roughly 300 dollars a month to all 3 credit cards. I only get 900 dollars a month, so 300 dollars is a big chunk to have to pay 
So any how, when I talked to the lady she said I would be paying anywhere from 300 a month to 350! That’s already what I pay now! I just thought that debt counseling or management was suppose to help people lower their payments! I’m just confused as to what I should do. Should I just file bankruptcy?

Can you get a home loan after bankruptcy?
After you file for bankruptcy several years ago let’s say 4 , can you get a home loan with a decent rate? Or how long should you wait before trying to get one? If you have a stable job since 6 years and making 60 000$ a year will you have more chance to be approved? Is there a bank that has better reputation when it come to home loans I mean some banks are more hard than other to get a loan ? Pls give me information that might help. Thanks
I have spoken to an attorney re:bankruptcy, I have paid him 1/2 of the cost of filing, but my car was wrecked?
between the time I spoke to him last Tuesday and today. I didn’t have insurance on it, it was something I was working on and was going to be required in order to file bankruptcy. My car payment is almost 3 months behind now and is in danger of being repossessed. My question now is, should I not file bankruptcy and just let them repo my car? I mean if I could get back the 0 bucks I gave the attorney, and save the other 5 that I would have to pay him, I could use that to get caught up on the rest of my bills. Also, doesn’t he have to give that money back to me if I change my mind, right? Nothing has been filed. Thanks for any suggestions, I hate money.
Bankruptcy or not??????????????
I have been in debt for quite some time five years. I am working full time. I have no assets. But I also cannot afford an attorney since I am living in a hotel and have 2 child support obligations. I have seen many online prep services but I do not know if they would work or not. I also will be having most of these debts off my credit report in about 3-5 years. I am wondering should I just wait it out and let those debts fall of my report and then try to build my credit back up with secured cards or just file for bankruptcy and have hopes in it getting discharged.

i want to file bankruptcy, but someone told me you have to pay the money back does’nt that defeat the purpose of filing, i thought that when it is discharged you slate is wiped clean.
Should I file bankruptcy?
I am 21 years old when I was 19 I bought a car and took out a loan for it. Then six months later I lost my job and soon after I surrendered my car up to be repossessed. Then like six months after that I got a letter saying I owed the company over seven thousand dollars for the money they lost. also at the same time my sister who was 16 ran up my cell phone bill and i had to disconnect it. adding another 400 dollars to the already 900 dollar phone bill. Since I lost my job I was not able to pay these bills and when i finally did find a job I barely made enough to cover the bills i had. now I am just wondering if it would be easier to just file bankruptcy and start over or should I try to pay the thirteen thousand dollars. With all the stuff on my credit it comes up to a little over thirteen thousand dollars in debts. What do I do?
What would be the difference between filing bankruptcy and not doing anything at all?
I mean your credit will be horrible either way and it will stay on there 7-10 years. But the difference I can see is you don’t have to say you filed bankruptcy and you don’t have to pay a lawyer. And quite honestly if you are going bankrupt, how the hell are you going to pay for a lawyer anyways?! Well I don’t even know, so please give me your feedback…THANX!
well let me clarify the situation…it is a business that will be going bankrupt not me personally. and In Texas they CANNOT mess with your homestead or cars..so I know I don’t have to worry about that…

Proposed solution for US automakers (alternative to bailout)?
This is what I think about the automaker bailout:
The big 3 need to throw away old baggage of inefficient operations, high executive pays, and high union powers.
My suggestions are:
- Declare bankruptcy (only option to cut all ties with inefficiency)
- Merge operations and create a new company
- Sell off plants to foreign automakers to create more capital(to Hyundai, Kia, or any company that is looking to have production in US), this way workers can still keep their jobs but just with different bosses
What is your take?
I believe they are trying to go green but they are late compared to Japanese manufactures.
If an restructuring was to happen, I say screw it with the half-ass green-wannabe hybrids and just go green. Set goals to produce electric, bio-fueled cars and phase out existing cars.
And as far as capitalist governments go.. well.. the companies are US companies..

It seems unfair when a company files chapter 11 they only have to pay back a portion of what they owe to creditors. is this true and how many time can you file bankruptcy until they say you can’t?
Alternative Financing Options?
My husband and I bought a vacation home in FL…we had the unimaginable happen to us – while on vacation there was an accident and one of our children passed away. We immediately put the home up for sale and at the same time the market dropped. For two years, the house was on the market and was only worth half of what we owed. We exhausted every option (short sale, etc without luck) and we needed to move on from this financial and emotional burden. We filed bankruptcy just to move on. We have never fell behind on any other payments (our 1st home, cars, NOTHING). We filed for chapter 17 and have been paying our monthly payments for 5 months without fail and will continue to do so for another 2 1/2 as promised. We have found our dream house (would like to sell our current home and purchase that one) – I know a chapter 17 looks awful – are there any other finance options in order to be able to purchase this dream home of ours?
My question is about where to claim about any employee rights stablished in the Labor Departm laws.?
I would like to know if my husband should file a complaint to the Labor Department, because of his boss… abusive behaviour; until a year ago… his boss was paying him a salary that was of $ 800.00 at the beguining to $ 1,000 dollars weekly, actually, this fixed salary was on for ten years, and now the boss…simply decided to stop paying this ‘fixed’ salary (currently 1,000 per week) blaming the national financial crisis, and put my husban on ‘commision’ for the cars he is able to fix…. in a week, the problem is some times he gives a car only 100 dollars of labor.. or only 20 hours of labor, and do not show the insurance company stimates on the cars, … and my husband ends up working the whole week (more than 40 hours) plus the saturdays too!.. just to earn 350.00 dollars!!! we are getting in bankruptcy soon because of this, this is a loss of more than 600.00 dollars… per week, and we can’t go on like this; the truth is he is working the same an even more hours… but he earns only 350.00 or 400.00 every week! this is after the change in the payment method from a fixed salary to ‘comission’, and I think it was a way of stealing his money!!. My husband is getting old and the boss is trying to abuse him by stealing him the money of salary. Besides the boss (mananger of car repai shop) blames the financial crisis for this change.. but he employed more people! and work production seems the same.. no less. My husband have been working in there for almost 14 years. My question is: Could he ’sue’ his boss… for discrimination, I think this discrimination is because of course my husband is not as young as he was when he started in this job of car repair technnician. He is certified technician… has to paid to his certification classes every year, and pays by himself a lot for tools.. and earning 350.00 per week is absurd!~… he hasen’t leave because first we want to know his rights.. but don’t know where to go. Also the boss cancelled his vacation week and said to him won’t paid the one vacation week.. my husband for many many years …usually had. No medical insurance. Nothing. WHere can he complaint??? can he sue his boss for abusively….. changing the conditions of payment and vacations?.
Thank Judith, yes I know he should start looking for a new job, the point is does he still have any rights to claim something legally.. despite there is not contract at all… I mean because we have civil rights I guess.. he has been discriminated because his age, he is not as young as 14 years ago when he started in that job… so of course he is not as productive as when younger. He never agree to the change of method of payment, he is pist off they cancelled his salary…. how can a company do this?.. there are not civil rights for employees?
how long after filing bankruptcy do you have to pay surplus income to creditors?
I want to file bankruptcy because i am in a lot of debt. I have heard that i can only make 36 a month before taxes. If i make more up to 75% can go to creditors. I just wanted to know how long this lasts. I dont want to be paying this for years to come. Would appreciate an answer from somebody who knows the facts or someone who has been in the same situation.
Is it better to complete a debt settlement program or to file bankruptcy?
I lost my job in early September and have run into some serious financial problems. I have a part time job and I should be receiving unemployment but they denied me at first and I have to wait for a hearing to appeal that decision, and they are super backed up and I will not even find out when my hearing is for another four weeks. I took out a distribution from my 401k, went through that, and they are taking their sweet time getting another distribution sent out to me. None of my accounts have been sent to collections yet, but they are almost there. I am considering bankruptcy or using one of those companies that negotiates better interest rates with my creditors and gets them to reduce my debt by up to 40%. I want to know which route I will recover from quicker. I eventually want to buy a house, take out student loans, etc. I keep hearing that bankruptcy is not as bad as it has been made out to be, and I have heard nothing about how debt settlement programs effect your credit. Does anyone have any advice?

How long does a mortgage company have to file a deed on a property? Part 2?
We are in Adair county Missouri and it has been 2+ years since a new mortgage company bought out our mortgage and still no change on the deed. We are struggling to pay the payment, but they refuse to work with us on lowering it since my husband is unemployed at the moment and they don’t consider unemployment income, but they will take every dime of it every month for the payment. My husband read somewhere online where a mortgage company hadn’t filed the proper paperwork after purchasing a mortgage and didn’t have the original paperwork for the loan and the woman was able to file bankruptcy against her house. She kept the house and the bank got nothing for it since their paperwork wasn’t in order. Is this possible?
I don’t believe everything that I read online because most of it is not true, but my husband wanted to believe that it was possible to file bankruptcy on the house and keep it.
