I have a 341 meeting for a chapter 7 case on June 14th. Ive filed bankruptcy without an attorney so I don’t know what paperwork I need to bring with me.

I contacted the trustees office who’s handling it and they said they would need

2 months of bank statements
2 months of pay stubs
copy of petition
05, 06 tax return copy

Is there anything I will need to have with me on my person when I go to the meeting next week? Im without an attorney so I cant ask one

I have a question, when you file bankruptcy, and they want your bank statements, is it just to look for any suspicious money withdraw/transfers? or to look at what you spend your money on etc?

i just recently met with a attorney to file bankruptcy. I will be filing bankruptcy in January (that’s when my lawyer bills will be paid off). My attorney said that when i file, I will need 6 months of pay stubs, 6 months of bank statements, registration form and the last 4 taxes filed.
My question is, when they look at your bank statements, what are they looking for?
Until recently, I’ve been making purchases (not much), but I have stopped now. Will they deny me the bankruptcy because of the purchases?
Also, if I want to purchase something, should I just pay in cash?

Husband lost his job – we’re now on one salary and barely scraping by as it is. We are now so far behind on our debt bills and none of our creditors are willing to work with us, so we’ve decided to file for bankruptcy. We located a bankruptcy attorney and he gave us a list of things to get together and to complete an online credit counseling course. While getting our things together he was quick to respond to our questions. We sent all our documents to him last week (tax info, payment stubs, bank statements) and now he won’t call or email us back. Should we assume that he’s not going to assist us? Could this be a scam and he’s planning on wiping us out using the info we gave him? We looked him up in our state’s Bar Association and he was on there. What should we do?

How many months of bank statements do they normally ask for when filing bankruptcy?

I have quite alot of debt and am looking into filing bankruptcy. How far back are they going to check my bank statements? Also my father passed away and left a life insurance policy to my mother that my name is on as a trustee…will this matter?
