If my wife files bankruptcy 7 in NC how does that affect me?

I am moving to NC for a job. I got married recently(Sept 08) and when I move my new wife will not have a job. She used her credit cards a lot before we were married to help her kids. She now can not continue to pay. I am not on any of her credit cards at all. If I have a high paying job in NC can she still file without it affecting me.

    Your fine.

The debt was acquired before you were married and N.C. is not a community property State.

And your Wife if she uses her head can reestablish her credit in as little as 24-months after her bankruptcy discharges.

    I know I did it.

It will not affect you one bit.
    You will not be affected.
But…. if you want to buy anything together such as a car or a home, they will take the lower scores.

    Time to start saving up.
Looks like for the next 10 years, you will be making a lot of purchases in cash.
Not a bad option if you have long term financial goals in life…
