I filed bankruptcy, where can I find out when its discharged?

I want to know where I can find out where my discharge papers are. How do I find out whe the case administrator is? Its been 7 weeks and I absolutely have to have these papers. Is there a way to get them?

Assuming that you are in the USA…

If you filed 7 weeks ago, you should have just had your 341 meeting. It generally takes 3-4 months after the 341 meeting (at a minimum) before you receive your discharge order (assuming you filed Ch 7).

If you failed to appear at your 341 meeting, your case was probably dismissed, i.e., you will never receive a discharge order because the case was thrown out.

Assuming that you did attend your (mandatory) 341 Meeting, it is far too early for you to have received your discharge yet, which is why you don’t have the discharge order ("papers") yet.

When the judge issues the discharge order ("papers"), the court will mail it to you. If you have changed your address since you filed your bankruptcy, be sure to notify the court of your address change.

The court willl mail it to you. You can also get a free account at PACER (www.pacer.gov) to review the documents filed in your case.
