How many jobs will be lost of Obama causes the coal industry to go bankrupt?
I know he’ll be creating jobs with alternative energy, but coal workers do not specialize in alternative energy… they know how to do coal work, so they’ll lose their jobs. How many workers will be out of work and be forced to find something completely out of their field?
Oops… change the "of" to "if" in the question ![]()
I have seen ONE answer in here that was close to answering the question. If you don’t have a reasonable answer for the question, please don’t answer.

Thousands! The poor working fools that are voting for him, are going to get hit big time. Obama is getting big bucks from the liberals who are supporting him and he will have to pay them back, big time! The losers are people like me who did not vote for him.

May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amA hell of a lot of jobs will be lost. But don’t worry. If everybody will just makes sure their tires are properly inflated then we can defeat OPEC.
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amI guess they have to fair the same way as people who created vinyl records in the past.
Technology changes all of the time, either or adapt or die. Thats the way things go. Period.
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amcoal miners get paid crap anyways. they will still have jobs for at least 5 years
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amObama, I heard, will extract the coal and export it to other countries. Also, because Obama is a good guy, he will probably provide some kind of government support for the coal workers to get retrained. Which will be better because coal mining is very dangerous work, and other jobs can be similar, pay just as well, and be safer.
Don’t look at your nose, look out to the future.
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amHow many jobs were lost because Bush started a war that destabilized the middle east causing oil prices to rise to the highest prices ever?
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amyou mean like how I have to work 7 days a week, 3 of them now at McDonalds (talk about out of my field) just to support my family? I had to change my career but too but it wasn’t because of Obama. Its the horrible economy we’re living in right now!

They should learn new skills. It’s a fact of life.
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amI live in WV.
I hate coal.
It ruins families. People don’t know what kind of suffering happens to give you electricity this way.
People suffer from disease, struggling to breathe every day because there are no better options here. Clean energy provides just as many jobs, and would help the people here…as well as not raping the state of it’s natural beauty, by turning mountains over and paving it all flat.
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amThey will have to find other jobs, just as everyone else who worked in an industry that is no longer needed.
What is the alternative? Forgo making any advancements so people can keep their jobs.
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amCoal mining is the past as a world we need to move on to alternative energy
May 17th, 2010 at 1:21 amEveryone keeps talking about change is inevitable.
Do those that do realize that COAL is the most abundant form of energy that we have in the US ?
Don’t be so foolish as to say "retrain" them. Oabama, once again, flaunts his ignorance and arrogance.
