How do I file Chapter 7 bankruptcy on my own in Utah?

I need to file chap. 7 bankruptcy and I’m in Utah. I’m going to try it on my own because I have no income and can’t afford a lawyer. Where do I go to get the paperwork?

  1. WHAT?:

Check out the business on Redwood and about 20 something south on the west side of Redwood. He also does divorces, but he is cheap, and can do the forms for you.

BK is a federal process. The fact you are in Utah is immaterial.

To answer your question, I would HIGHLY suggest you not try to go alone. I would contact a reputable attorney local to you to start the process. If you truly cannot afford an attorney, then he can petition the court to have them reimburse him for his assistance in preparing your case. They do not often grant that petition, but they sometimes do. If the attorney doesn’t want to help you in your case, he should be able to refer you to local organizations that could perhaps help you in your endeavor.

are you sure you are even eligible to file chapter 7 vs. chap 13? – do you even know the difference?
you would still have to pay filing fees – not cheap, and without a lawyer YOU will have to figure out on your own what you need to do and hope you are doing it right
