Chapter 7 bankruptcy questions?
My husband I are going to be in the process of filing chapter 7 tomorrow when I drop off our payment but had a question.. How will they tell which creditors to notify of us filing bankruptcy when we dont receive actual statements since most of our accounts were on paperless pay online type of things and when i log on they disable the accounts and ask to call them, and I cut up all the credit cards.. can they do a credit check and notify my creditors that way? I’ve never gone thru this before and curious how they would do that since we have sooo many creditors and hard to keep track of who we get statements from and who we dont thanks
Get to work. You need to list every one of your creditors and how much you owe. Do not file for bankruptcy until you know exactly what you owe to whom. Also check your credit report to ensure it is accurate.
You also need to itemize all sources of income, bank accounts, all assets at current market value.
July 29th, 2010 at 4:40 amYou do have an attorney, don’t you? That is what you’re paying your attorney for… when you did the homework packet from your attorney, you should have listed all of the unsecured debts/creditors. They’ll go by that list and incidentally, when you file bk, all of your creditors are notified and legally will not be able to call you for payment.
July 29th, 2010 at 4:40 amWhen you file bankruptcy, you complete a matrix. A matrix is a list of your creditors. You need to obtain a copy of your credit report from all three credit reporting agencies before you file so that you don’t leave anyone out.
It is hard to amend a bankruptcy
